Class, Nationality and the Roots of the Branch Plant Economy

Abstract

The question of why Canada incurred so much foreign ownership of its economy at so early a point in its history has generated three standard explanations: the tariff; proximity to the United States; and weak nationalism amongst Canadian capitalists.
