Who are the Metis?

David Boisvert, Keith Turnbull

The Metis are an aboriginal people with a long and important history in Canada - a people that has had its aboriginal rights denied for too long. We will describe in this paper how the Metis emerged and developed in the various parts of Canada, particularly the Northwest. We will also show how, in the Northwest, they were cheated out of their aboriginal rights, and elsewhere denied them entirely.
