Towards a Marxian Theory of Canadian Federalism
Abstract
Marxist analysis has often conceptualized federalism in the very terms of liberal discourse: as an object in itself, an autonomous and distorting legal form. In an attempt to escape this tendency, federalism will be considered here as a form of regime, a cosubstantial element of the general definition of the capitalist state, and particularly of the Canadian state.
