Abstract
Progressive challenges to law's power depend upon our ability to assess the radical potential of the legal struggles in which we engage. However, there is often uncertainty about what is at stake in struggles over law, and nagging doubts about whether hard-won legal changes will result in empowerment for oppressed groups.
