Political economists are accustomed to thinking of destabilizing forces in negative terms, and the world situation today is not a happy one. But neither of the two commentaries on "Socialism after Communism" published
in SPE 38 is really addressed to the world situation. They are addressed instead to the intellectual and political projects likely to be undertaken in the future by left political economists.
